LJYB 2019 Opening Day Information Guide
Opening Day is this Saturday, March 2nd. This is the single busiest day of the year for La Jolla Youth Baseball families. To help you navigate the day we are providing this information guide which list everything you need to know about the big day! Everything you need to know is also posted on our website so check it for up to the minute information including the latest scores and home runs.
Game Schedule: The best place to see what team is playing where and when is the Master Calendar. The Master calendar lists all the games for each week along with any special events so scroll to the bottom of the page to see a list of this weekend’s games.
Parking: Parking in La Jolla is always difficult and opening day is no different. Your best bet is the YMCA parking lot and the Torrey Pines Elementary parking lot. You are allowed to park there. Other good spots are along Cliffridge Avenue and along Via Posada Avenue for those going to Pinto and Mustang games. Check out our Field Map for a satellite view of the fields and surrounding area. If you are running late, dropping off your baseball player at the Cliffridge circle by the Pony field is a good option. Please do not block driveways or park in areas marked "No Parking" as cars will be towed.
Individual and Team Pictures: All teams in LJYB will have team and individual pictures taken on Opening Day. The photo schedule for your team can be downloaded HERE. The “League Package” is included with your registration fee. This includes 1 Composite Memory Mate (player and team photo in one picture), 1 Laminated Bag Tag and 4 Wallet photos. There are a multitude of options to add to this package. Click HERE to see your options and to get a head start on filling out the order form that everyone is required to turn in. Pictures will be taken on the Big Field behind Torrey Pines Elementary School.
Opening Day Ceremonies: This WILL BE one of the biggest opening day ceremonies in LJYB history so make sure you and your baseball player are there to participate and witness all the action. The ceremony will be held at the Bronco field complete with a spacious viewing deck at the top for those that like to stand and check out the ocean between guests.
The ceremony kicks off at approximately 11:00 am. LJYB President Jim Sampson will kick of the ceremony. He will be followed by a host of exciting guests and entertainment. Check back for details!
We are planning on taking the GIANT league photo of all 400+ players along with managers and coaches lining the Bronco infield.
Snack Bar Is Open: Opening Day will mark the opening of the biggest and best snack bar yet located behind third base of the Bronco field. All of the past favorites including Slushees, sunflower seeds and Big League Chew gum will be available. This year we are adding even more items so be sure to stop by and take a look. The snack bar is also selling La Jolla Baseball apparel.
To help celebrate the grand opening of the snack bar (and to help with the overflow crowd) Kona Ice and will be onsite with their famous food trucks to serve you their great food as well! We will also have a brand new barbeque grilling up favorites all day!
Help Out: Please bring any used baseball or softball gear including bats (including the 2017 and before models that are now illegal), gloves, catcher’s gear, helmets, cleats, or gently used baseball clothing (except jerseys) and drop them off at the Kids Gear for Baseball collections bins by the snack bar.
Please deposit empty aluminum cans and plastic bottles in the recycle bins located around the park area. LJYB will recycle them.
