Private Instruction/Cages

Some players in our league desire private instruction to increase their development.  Below is a list of some of the individuals that have provided instruction to kids in our league in the past.  This is not a recommendation or endorsement, but simply a resource for families to use if they are interested in private instruction.  LJYB takes no responsibility for any decision.

Jake Grosz Pitching Instruction - La Jolla Viking Youth Baseball Program Director and LJHS Baseball Pitching Consultant. Jake comes with over 15 years of experience working in education and coaching youth and high school sports. Tim Tisch Pitching Instruction - Tim is one of the premier pitching coaches in San Diego County.  His career has spanned nearly two decades.  He was drafted out of Mesa College by the Chicago White Sox.  His early success included a no-hitter against the St. Louis Cardinals organization.  While with the White Sox Tim learned from their best pitching coaches.  Tim's passion for coaching began after his professional career ended.  He has worked with some of the elite travel ball organizations including the San Diego Saints and the Del Mar Powerhouse. Tim is currently the Varsity Pitching Coach at The Bishop's School in La Jolla.  In his first season he helped lead the Knights to the CIF championship game.  Call 619.889.4835 or email

Sean Rees - Pitching Mechanics/Instruction - Widely considered one of the top pitching coaches around, he has tutored several top pitchers in San Diego over the past 15 years.  At Mission Bay High School he was named CIF Player of the Year in 1998, two time All-State selection, ALL-CIF choice 1986-1988, and also pitched Mission Bay to its first two CIF Championships in 1986 and 1988.  Rees was named 1st Team ALL-AMERICAN at Arizona State University in 1990. He was also member of TEAM USA in 1990. Coach Rees was drafted by the Seattle Mariners in the 5th Round in 1991. Brickyard Cages -  A brand-new premier instruction, training, and recreation center for baseball and softball players of all ages and abilities.  The cutting-edge facility is located by the I-5/8 intersection.  The have cages, offer private instruction, clinics, camps, and birthday parties.

JP Longball -  An indoor batting center located in the heart of San Diego near University of San Diego. The facility houses 5 batting cages with dirt batting surfaces in two of them. The speed of our pitching machines can cater to individuals just starting out to seasoned professionals. We also offer personalized hitting, pitching, and fielding instruction by our highly qualified and skilled instructors.  They also run camps and clinics.
